Check what is already available

Look through the places where you keep the items you plan to buy. Write down what is missing and what is available. If others share the household, give them a clear place to add items.

Add useful details

Include quantity or size when it matters. Separate essential items from things you only want to compare. A little context helps prevent a second trip caused by an ambiguous note.

Keep the list current

After shopping, mark what was purchased and retain unresolved items. Notice which details helped and which you never used. Adjust the list to your actual routine rather than aiming for a perfect template.
